BC Trails Day Small Grants Fund Open!
We are excited to announce that the BC Trails Day Community Small Grants are back. With support from RC Strategies, ORCBC offers a limited number of small grants of up to $500 each to help outdoor organizations organize community-based BC Trails Day events.
The funds can help pay for various expenses, including tools and gear library products, stewardship supplies, event promotion, equipment rental, and other materials needed to create a fantastic BC Trails Day event experience.
If we receive more grant requests than funding available, priority is given to ORCBC members and initiatives that promote environmental stewardship and make the outdoors accessible to everyone, including Indigenous people, people of colour and people with diverse abilities. We also like to see partnerships and collaborations between different groups.
The application deadline is Monday, May 9, 2022, and decisions will be announced by email a few days later.
Event registration for BC Trails Day is now open, and 13 events have already been added to the BC Trails Day event calendar. Submit your event here.
As an event host, it is your responsibility to ensure you have the necessary permission from the landowner or land manager to host the event.
Looking for ideas? Here are some suggestions:
Organize a trail or park cleanup before or after a recreational activity
Collaborate with an organization or agency that has approval to build new trails or improve trail or recreation infrastructure
Create an event that engages kids or youth in recreation activities or stewardship
Deliver an educational workshop on outdoor safety, Leave No Trace, TreadLightly or Marine Trails Code of Conduct principles, and other outdoor skills
Host a guided recreational activity for new trail users
