The Outdoor Recreation Council of BC (ORCBC) plays an active role in advocating for the outdoor recreation community by participating in consultations, submitting letters, and providing feedback on key policy and planning initiatives. These efforts aim to advance sustainable recreation, protect natural spaces, and represent the diverse voices of recreation users across BC.

On this page, you will find recent submissions, consultation opportunities, and key correspondence on pressing issues. By sharing this information, we hope to empower individuals and organizations to engage in meaningful advocacy and contribute to the ongoing dialogue shaping outdoor recreation in BC.

Whether you're part of a recreation group, an individual outdoor enthusiast, or a partner organization, we encourage you to stay informed and take action to support BC’s vibrant outdoor recreation community.

Consultations

This page provides an overview of some of the major consultation opportunities that are relevant for the public outdoor recreation community. If we have missed listing any significant engagement opportunities, please notify us.

While ORCBC will provide input into a number of consultations each year, we encourage individuals and groups from the outdoor recreation community to get informed about the issues and speak up to provide insights and advance the interests of this diverse and important community.

To see a list of other consultation opportunities, you can visit EngageBC, the Province’s Angling, Hunting and Trapping Engagement page and BC Parks’ Management Planning page. As an exclusive service to our member organizations, we provide them with email notifications of commercial tourism tenure applications. You can also do your own search of current applications by visiting Front Counter BC.

Make your voice heard for outdoor recreation in BC.

Each year, the Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services invites British Columbians to share their ideas and priorities for the next provincial budget. This is a key opportunity to advocate for funding and support for outdoor recreation in BC.
The Committee considers all input and makes recommendations to the Legislative Assembly. If your organization would like to present, please complete the pre-registration form  by 2:00 p.m. PT on Friday, April 11. Additional opportunities to provide input will be available in June.

We encourage you to highlight the value of recreation for community health, economic development, and environmental stewardship.
