ORCBC commends Province for watershed restoration funding
The Outdoor Recreation Council of BC (ORCBC) congratulates the provincial government on today’s [April 21] announcement confirming the allocation of $30 million dollars to watershed restoration efforts around the Province.
Mark Angelo, the Outdoor Recreation Council of BC's Rivers Chair and Rivers Day founder says: “We applaud the provincial government’s commitment to restore and enhance watersheds and wetlands around BC, which will benefit salmon and other fish stocks as well as wildlife habitat. These funds will be vitally important in helping to support reconciliation efforts with Indigenous communities while also benefitting stewardship organizations that are working to protect and restore our waterways.”
The ORCBC, representing more than 100,000 members, has long been an advocate for new expenditures aimed at watershed restoration. Angelo added, “these funds will help to restore watershed health, support climate resiliency, and assist the admirable watershed restoration efforts of many groups and organizations”.
