ORCBC is seeking a dedicated and experienced Grants Program Manager to oversee the administration of the Outdoor Recreation Fund of British Columbia and to contribute to the organization's broader fundraising efforts. The Grants Program Manager will play a crucial role in managing grant programs, soliciting additional funds, cultivating relationships with funders, and ensuring the successful implementation of initiatives that support outdoor recreation across the province.
POSITION: Grants Program Manager
LOCATION: Home-based in British Columbia. A computer and phone will be provided, but you must have a dedicated office space and secure access to the Internet.
ORGANIZATIONAL DETAILS: The Outdoor Recreation Council of BC (ORCBC) is an umbrella organization composed of organizational members that represent the broad and diverse spectrum of outdoor recreation user groups in BC, including paddlers, hikers, mountain bikers, equestrians, quad riders, 4WDs, sport fishers and other nature interests. We work to promote and advocate for access to and responsible use of BC's outdoors for public recreation, build bridges between outdoor recreation groups and represent the broad interests of the outdoor recreation community to government and industry.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will carry out the following duties and responsibilities:
Administration of the Outdoor Recreation Fund:
Develop and implement strategies for soliciting, evaluating, and awarding grants from the Outdoor Recreation Fund of BC.
Manage the grant application process, including providing guidance to applicants, reviewing proposals, and coordinating the selection process.
Manage and analyze grant program data, including applications and reviews.
Oversee grant disbursements, monitor grantee progress, and ensure compliance with funding requirements.
Prepare regular reports on grant activities, outcomes, and impact for internal and external stakeholders.
Collaborate with internal teams to integrate grant activities into broader organizational initiatives and campaigns.
Fundraising and Development:
Collaborate with the Executive Director and fundraising team to develop and implement fundraising strategies to support ORCBC's mission and programs.
Identify and cultivate relationships with potential donors, sponsors, and funding partners, including government agencies, foundations, corporations, and individuals.
Assist in the development of grant proposals, sponsorship packages, and other fundraising materials.
Represent ORCBC at networking events, conferences, and meetings to promote the organization and solicit support.
Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:
Cultivate positive relationships with grant applicants, grantees, partners, and stakeholders to foster collaboration and support.
Serve as a resource for grant seekers, providing guidance, technical assistance, and feedback throughout the application and project implementation process.
Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders about grant opportunities, program updates, and impact stories through various channels, including newsletters, website, and social media.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., nonprofit management, business, environmental studies, public administration).
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in grant management, fundraising, or related field, preferably within the nonprofit sector.
Strong understanding of grantmaking processes, fundraising strategies, and donor relations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders, including donors, funders, partners, and community members.
Highly organized and detail-oriented, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
Ability to effectively manage data in grant management software and Excel. Experience working with Survey Monkey Apply is an asset.
Passion for outdoor recreation, conservation, and environmental stewardship.
Knowledge of the outdoor recreation landscape in British Columbia is an asset.
COMPENSATION & HOURS: This is a full-time, permanent position (35 hours/week) with an annual pay of $62,000-$64,000 and an opportunity to access an extended health plan.
