ORCBC 2025 Annual General Meeting - Call for nominations and resolutions

The Outdoor Recreation Council of British Columbia (ORCBC) is pleased to announce its 2025 Annual General Meeting, which will be held virtually on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at 7:00 pm PT.

Nominations for ORCBC’s Executive Board of Directors

Six positions on ORCBC ’s Board of Directors will be up for election/re-election at the AGM.

We encourage all ORCBC members to submit nominations.

Nominations from ORCBC members, accompanied by a brief biography/resume detailing the nominee’s involvement in recreation-related activities and experiences, along with an acceptance note from the nominee, must be received by ORCBC no later than April 15, 2025.

Please note that, per ORCBC’s bylaws, nominations cannot be accepted from the floor during the AGM.

A list of nominees will be shared along with the notice of the AGM, one month prior to the meeting. In the event of more nominations than available positions, elections will be conducted during the AGM.

To be eligible for election as a director of ORCBC, a nominee must meet the qualifications outlined in ORCBC’s current bylaws, and at least one of the following:

  • Be a member of a provincial ORCBC Member organization in good standing

  • Be a member of a regional ORCBC Member organization in good standing

  • Be an individual ORCBC member

  • Be an advisory member nominated by the ORCBC Board

We provide guidelines for preferred candidate backgrounds and considerations for availability as follows:

  • Actively engaged with an outdoor recreation organization

  • Experience in multiple facets of outdoor recreation

  • Strong interest in outdoor recreation and public policy issues, including access to public lands, trails, and community well-being

  • Prior experience in NGO administration or in government is desirable

  • Willingness to bring forward issues of general concerns within the outdoor recreation sector at Board meetings

  • Ability to represent the nominating organization’s perspective while prioritizing the overall benefit of the outdoor recreation sector

  • Balanced approach to issues impacting the outdoor recreation sector

  • Availability for monthly meetings, typically held at 6:00 PM on the third Monday of each month via Zoom

Members’ Resolutions

ORCBC members are invited to submit resolutions by April 15, 2025, addressing issues relevant to the outdoor recreation sector. Resolutions passed at the AGM will serve in an advisory capacity, with the Board determining any subsequent actions.
